Bolt.new and Jig, side by side
As of November 2026. Prices in US dollars.
| Bolt.new | Jig | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | In the browser (Chromium-based desktop browsers, plus mobile browsers without the code view). | A desktop app on your own computer: macOS, Windows or Linux. Projects, preview and history stay on your machine. |
| Whose AI does the work | Bolt’s AI, metered in Bolt tokens. | The AI coding assistant you already have: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or opencode for other models. Companies can use Claude through Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI or Microsoft Foundry. Claude Code has the deepest integration today. |
| Pricing model | Tokens. Pro from $25 a month for 10 million tokens, with unused tokens rolling over. Teams at $30 per member a month. Enterprise is custom. | The builder is free. Optional Pro and Enterprise plans add backups and organization features. Jig never charges for AI; your provider bills usage directly. |
| Free plan | Yes: 1 million tokens a month, up to 300,000 a day, with Bolt branding. | Yes, the full builder. How much you can build depends on your AI plan or API key, not on Jig. |
| Use an AI plan or key you already pay for | Not found in Bolt’s help center. Usage is tracked against your Bolt plan. | Yes. A Claude plan or Anthropic key through Claude Code, a ChatGPT plan or OpenAI key through Codex, or Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq or local Ollama models through opencode. Gemini works with an API key, not a Gemini app subscription. |
| Your code | JavaScript and TypeScript frameworks with a Node backend. GitHub integration for backup and sync. | A plain folder and git repository on your disk from the first minute, with a checkpoint commit for every change. Push to GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Gitea or any git server. |
| Hosting | Bolt Cloud hosting, with custom domains on Pro and above. Netlify publishing is also available. | Not included. Publish to your own Netlify account, download a zip of the built site, or use a Dockerfile. Vercel, Cloudflare Pages, GitHub Pages and Azure Static Web Apps are coming. |
| Database and sign-in for your app | Bolt Cloud databases and authentication on every plan. Supabase as an alternative on Pro and Teams. | No hosted backend. Your app can use services you choose, such as your own Supabase project, with keys kept in your OS keychain. |
| Working together | Real-time multiplayer, view, edit and owner sharing, and preview comments. | Through git: push to a shared repository and a teammate continues in Jig with the full history. No real-time co-editing. |
| Devices | Desktop and mobile browsers. | Desktop only. The preview can show phone and tablet sizes, but Jig itself does not run on phones or in a browser tab. |
| Company controls | SSO on Teams and Enterprise. Enterprise adds audit logs, data governance and dedicated infrastructure. | A machine-wide policy file deployed with MDM (allowed AI, git hosts, publish targets, private-only repositories), a local audit log, proxy and certificate support. Single sign-on and an admin dashboard are coming. |

How Jig is different
Bolt is optimized for speed in the browser. Jig is optimized for using AI you already pay for and keeping everything in your own folders and git.
- No tokens to watchJig has no usage meter of its own. Claude Code, Codex or opencode uses your plan or key, and your provider bills you directly.
- Not limited to JavaScript projectsJig starts new apps from a Vite, React and TypeScript template, and because it drives a general coding assistant on your machine, it can work on other projects you import too.
- Your git, your reviewEvery change is a checkpoint commit, and projects push to GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps or any git server, where your normal review decides what ships.
- Controls for ITA policy file deployed with MDM, a local audit log, keys in the OS keychain and support for corporate proxies.
- What Jig does not haveBuilt-in hosting and databases, multiplayer editing and access from a browser or phone. Jig needs a desktop computer and an AI assistant or key.
Questions people ask
Is Jig free like Bolt’s free plan?
Jig is free with no token limit of its own. How much you can build depends on your AI plan or API key, which your provider bills.
Can I use my ChatGPT or Claude plan with Bolt?
We did not find an option for that in Bolt’s help center as of November 2026. Bolt usage is measured in Bolt tokens.
Can I move a Bolt project into Jig?
Yes, through GitHub. Clone the repository to your computer and import the folder into Jig. Bolt Cloud databases and sign-in need to be moved separately.
Which one is better for working together?
Bolt, if you want several people editing live in the same project. Jig, if you want each app in your company’s git with history and review.

Jig is free for macOS, Windows and Linux. Describe the app, approve the plan, watch it appear in the preview.
Free for macOS, Windows and Linux.
- A desktop computer. macOS, Windows or Linux. Jig is not a phone or browser app.
- An AI coding assistant or an API key. Claude Code with a Claude plan, OpenAI Codex with a ChatGPT plan, or opencode with a Gemini, OpenRouter or Groq key, or local models through Ollama.
- Nothing else to pay Jig for AI. Your AI provider bills your usage directly, the way it already does.
